Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept students mid-year?

Yes! We accept students throughout the academic year based on program availability and student needs. Our individualized approach allows us to onboard new students at any time.

What is your student-to-teacher ratio?

We provide 1:1 instruction for all students, ensuring maximum personalized attention and support. This allows us to fully customize learning to each student's needs.

Do you provide transportation?

Transportation is typically arranged through the student's home school district. We offer in-home and virtual options that eliminate transportation needs. We can assist families in coordinating transportation services.

How does ESA funding work?

Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program provides funds for eligible students to attend private schools like Goodwin Learning Academy. We are fully approved ESA vendors and can assist with the application process. ESA funds can cover full tuition costs.

What curriculum do you use?

At Goodwin Learning Academy, every student's journey begins with a comprehensive diagnostic process designed to identify their current academic levels and learning needs.

We assess each student using IXL Diagnostics to determine their current grade-level performance in reading and mathematics, identify skill gaps, and target areas needing additional support.

When appropriate and based on individual student needs or parent request, we also utilize DIBELS and the PAST assessment to further evaluate early literacy development and assess for indicators of dyslexia or language-based learning differences.

From there, we don't place students into a one-size-fits-all curriculum. We build their learning experience around them.

Our instructional approach integrates a blend of:

  • Accelerate Education for structured, standards-aligned coursework
  • Everfi for real-world, life-ready learning experiences
  • GLA-designed curriculum, aligned with Arizona State Standards

Each course includes a defined scope and sequence with guided pacing to ensure meaningful and measurable progress.

To reinforce instruction and monitor mastery, we utilize tools such as IXL and BrainPOP, providing students with opportunities to practice, apply, and strengthen their skills in a supportive environment.

At GLA, data doesn't sit in a report. It drives every instructional decision we make, ensuring each student receives a personalized, responsive education designed for growth and success.

Can my child earn a high school diploma?

Yes! We offer an approved diploma pathway for students who can meet Arizona graduation requirements. We also offer alternative certificates of completion for students working on functional life skills.
